Technical Project Manager

Our client, a novel diagnostics company focused on detecting various pathologies, diseases, and conditions, beginning with COVID-19, is currently seeking a Technical Project Manager to join their team. We are looking for someone with a biochemistry background who understands the nuances of synthetic chemistry (specifically peptide synthesis) and biology – ideally someone who understands the pathology of different diseases (infectious and otherwise) – who can work intimately with our in-house synthetic chemistry teams and biology teams to ensure that they are organized, on track, and dedicated to our mission of delivering fast, cheap, accurate, and game-changing tests for an array of diseases, conditions, and pathologies, from COVID to Cancer.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, support, and track individual technical projects, programs, and initiatives that support company strategic plans and department roadmaps to drive business results
  • Manage and coordinate technology team activities and resource/capacity planning with a focus on deliverables and milestones; adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Serve as point person to all technical projects and goals
  • Propose facilitation process enhancements to improve project execution and resource allocation
  • Track project workstreams and the flow of information within the technology team and throughout the whole organization
  • Collaborate with all departmental functions across the company to ensure successful delivery of projects
  • Translate strategy into action by managing strategic initiatives which include ongoing projects in support of critical processes and technology
  • Effectively report changes to roadmaps, resource allocation, and expectations to all stakeholders
  • Maintain effective communication with leadership to keep them aware of critical issues and the action plans for addressing those issues; appropriately manage/escalate project issues or risks
  • Prepare and present regular status updates for each initiative, including roadmaps and project timelines
  • Develop best practices to improve program and project performance
  • Establish KPI’s for projects, drive projects to completion, and communicate risk to stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a life science field with proven project management, preferably new product development experience including initial R&D through production launch and sales phases
  • Degree or background in Biochemistry; Master’s/MBA preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional internal resources (sales, leadership, technical, distribution) as they relate to a project or product
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to follow-up ahead of deadlines
  • High degree of professionalism and a strong sense of urgency to seek out answers to ambiguous problems
  • Leadership – able to provide a voice of reason to guide the team to focus and achieve results
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Life Science, clinical trial focus and experience preferred
  • Experience managing chemistry teams and/or biology teams for invitro diagnostics developers and shipping diagnostic products preferred.
