Tax Senior Manager – Cupertino, CA – Salary up to $170k

A rapidly growing accounting firm is looking to hire a Senior Tax Manager.

Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Planning

  • Oversee the preparation and review of intricate tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts and estates
  • Provide tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and optimize tax positions.
  • Offer guidance on complex tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, international tax, state and local tax, and various credits and incentives.
  • Ensure all tax engagements comply with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and manage tax risks for both the firm and clients, ensuring defensible tax positions aligned with ethical standards.
  • Review and sign off on tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Practice Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional growth through training and development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create and execute strategies for expanding the tax practice, including client acquisition and service diversification.
  • Participate in business development activities, networking, attending industry events, and representing the firm in the marketplace.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional value-added services to existing clients.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary contact for key clients on complex tax matters, overseeing high-level planning, compliance, and consulting engagements.
  • Build strong client relationships by offering strategic tax advice, identifying tax-saving opportunities, and addressing client concerns.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and proactive tax solutions tailored to individual needs.

Requirements:

  • CPA or EA required
  • 10+ years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on compliance, planning, and advisory services
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including staff mentoring and development.
  • Proficient in tax software 

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Taxation or a related field.
  • Experience in specialized areas such as international tax, mergers and acquisitions, or tax incentives.
  • Strong business development skills and a track record of expanding client relationships and practice areas.
