Temporary Senior Research Associate – Human Primary Stem Cell Biologist/Gene Editing

San Diego, CA

We are seeking a highly motivated cell biologist to join the Gene Editing Group. The successful candidate will support gene-editing work in human adult tissue-specific stem cells using the CRISPR/Cas9 system, including cell maintenance, transfections, cell expansion, and banking. Additional responsibilities include differentiation of human primary stem cells, QC and functional characterization of edited cells, writing study reports. The successful candidate should also have an experience/ interest in gene editing in human IPSCs or other human primary stem cells. He/She should be a highly motivated, hard-working person with good knowledge of cellular and molecular biology.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in cell biology, developmental biology or related scientific area
  • Proficient in cell culture
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working with human primary stem cells including long term cell maintenance and expansion, differentiation, and characterization (Western Blot, QPCR, immunostaining)
  • The successful candidate must be results orientated, self-motivated, and well-organized
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional multitasking skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team in a matrix organization, ability to adapt to a time-line driven work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in cell or developmental biology
  • Basic understanding of the use of stem cells in drug discovery processes is a plus
  • Experience in working in an industrial environment desired
