Senior BDC Fund Accountant – Boston, MA – Business Development Company
Our team is working with a leading credit fund located in Boston looking to hire a Senior Fund Accountant within their BDC. The ideal candidate will have experience with reconciling & reviewing 10K/Q statements & SOX experience due to an implementation. Responsibilities:

Review and reconcile publicly filed 10K/10Q financial statements and work papers provided by third party administrator

Oversee build-out and implementation of SOX controls in anticipation of ICFR auditor opinion

Understand various types of complex investments and how they function within the portfolio (i.e. reporting, exposure, valuation)

Reconcile portfolio with administrator and middle office team, as well as perform qualifying assets tests

Responsible for accurate calculation of Funds’ NAV, fees, and accruals in accounting system

Oversee month-end closings and maintain full accounting records under “shadow” environment

Monitor all capital activity, including distributions

Perform recalculations and projections of management fees and incentive fees

Manage entirety of annual audit and quarterly reviews– including coordination between third party administrator and auditors

Assist Senior Management team with ongoing and ad-hoc internal reporting requests, including benchmarking and other strategic initiatives

Work with tax / compliance teams to ensure at least 90% of taxable income is distributed to shareholders and other compliance requirements are met, including asset coverage minimums

Preparation of meeting materials for senior management and Board of Directors

Interact effectively and liaise with multiple groups within the Firm, and external service providers, including but not limited to: Tax, Management Company, Valuation Providers, Investor Relations, Legal and Compliance, Operations and Investment Professionals, and external auditors
Qualifications:

CPA (or progress towards a CPA) a plus

3+ years of experience

Public accounting background with minimum of 3-4 years a plus (“Big 4” firm preferred)

Experience with SEC reporting, BDC and SOX experience a plus

Experience preferred in working with debt instruments and level 3 assets strongly preferred (including but not limited to bank debt, bonds, understanding of PIK/OID) preferably in a hedge fund, private equity or audit environment

Experience working with 3rd party administrator and accounting / trade systems

Strong knowledge of GAAP, Reg S-X and investment company accounting

Proficient knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
