Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a highly successful consumer services organization with multiple locations throughout the United States. The Payroll Specialist will support efforts related to ensuring proper payroll registration and payroll tax compliance across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years of payroll experience and strong understanding of tax compliance.
This is a 1-2-month contract opportunity, paying $35-45/hour (depending on experience).
Qualified candidates will be eligible for 100% remote flexibility (MUST be able to work EST hours).
Responsibilities:
- Review inbound mailings related to state tax notices and approvals
- Partner with senior leadership and Payroll Manager to determine and execute proper responses for tax notices
- Review details maintained in payroll system, Paycor, and assist in filing necessary documents and information with state office of notice
- Follow-up directly with state offices as necessary
- Retrieve essential login information for multiple states’ websites, and ensure internal payroll team has access to states’ websites so as to maintain continuous monitoring
- Provide feedback and recommendations regarding process improvement
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of related payroll and payroll tax compliance experience
- Strong understanding of payroll tax compliance across multiple states
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PPT, Excel)
- Previous experience utilizing Paycor
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
