Estate Settlement Advisor – Boston, MA

We are seeking an Estate Settlement Advisor to join a well-established fiduciary services firm located in Boston, MA. The Estate Settlement Advisor will manage all aspects of estate administration, requiring expertise in trusts, estate planning, investments, probate, and tax laws. This role demands exceptional problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a client-first approach to ensure seamless execution. Reporting to the Head of Fiduciary Services, the advisor will play a key role in delivering high-quality service to clients and Trustees.

This is a permanent position that pay $150-$175k (depending on experience) on base salary. All Candidate must be located in MA. 

Responsibilities:

  • Estate Administration: Oversee asset valuation, collection, and distribution; debt settlements; trust funding; and preparation of probate inventories and accounts.
  • Project Coordination: Maintain tracking systems to ensure estate settlement tasks are completed on time and efficiently.
  • Tax Compliance & Planning: Prepare federal and state estate tax returns, analyze planning documents, and generate estate tax projections.
  • Probate & Accounting: Manage probate accounting and coordinate with legal teams for timely court submissions.
  • Gift Tax Support: Assist in the preparation and review of complex gift tax returns.
  • Multitasking & Organization: Prioritize multiple projects, manage deadlines, and coordinate workflows.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and adhere to established processes to ensure high-quality service.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. with extensive estate settlement experience in a law firm or investment office.
  • Active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
  • 10+ years of estate settlement experience.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and specialized accounting/portfolio management systems (e.g., SunGard’s AddVantage, CCH Axcess).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal teams.
