Director of Finance – Brookline – Prep School
A leading all girls Catholic Middle/High school is looking to hire a Director of Finance to their growing team. The Director of Finance will be part of managing the financial and physical resources of the school. The position works under the supervision of the CFO, manages the Accounts Specialist, and works closely with the external HR partner and benefits partner, as well as various faculty and staff from across the school. This position is responsible for attending to the day-to-day tasks and identifying and developing process improvements that streamline workflow.
Essential Duties:

Responsible for all accounting aspects and the integrity of the general ledger.

Oversee integration across all software systems to ensure best accounting practices.

Work closely with the CFO to track investments, record gains and losses, and reconcile the release of net assets and restricted contributions per the School’s endowment spending policy.

Oversee the management of monthly tuition payment plans.

Reconcile monthly payroll, student billing, and payable / disbursement activity to the general ledger.

Support and assist in recording fundraising activities and reconciliation to the general ledger

Responsible for financial reporting by generally accepted accounting principles

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Prepare and enter monthly journal entries

Monthly close and reconciliation of bank and all balance sheet accounts

Prepare an annual financial audit package and be responsible for annual audits, Worker’s Comp, Daly Rink, and the School.

Cash management cash flow and forecasting and supervising all incoming cash receipts

Manage record keeping of fixed assets.

Provide information and assist in filing all federal and informational returns.

Provide covenant calculations as required for banks and lenders

Oversee financial internal controls

Review contracts as needed

Prepare reports and work with administrators and departments regarding budget performance.

Maintain financial records by the school’s record retention policy.

Keep informed of financial, regulatory, and other information about nonprofit entities and schools.

Back-up coverage for accounts payable and other functions as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, CPA a plus

6+ years of non-profit accounting experience, preferably in a school environment, public accounting, or auditing

Experience accounting for investments and endowment spending
