Contracts Attorney – Boston, MA
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Contracts Attorney with a strong focus on client service. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating a wide range of corporate agreements and NDAs across various departments within the firm. These agreements include, but are not limited to, SaaS/cloud services, subscription and market data agreements, leases, engagement letters with auditors/accounting firms, consulting agreements, data protection agreements, fund operations-related agreements, employment search agreements, and event/hotel agreements. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will play a crucial role in supporting the firm's legal and business objectives across multiple departments.
This is a 3-4+ month contract to hire opportunity paying $80-$100/hour (depending on experience).
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate general and complex contracts, ensuring alignment with the firm's business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Legal Counseling: Provide advice to internal clients on contract disputes with vendors, collaborating with senior leaders to design solutions and settlements.
- Risk Management: Understand the risk tolerance of each function within the firm, build and store standard contract terms, and collaborate with stakeholders to create standard contract templates as needed.
- Corporate Legal Matters: Manage and complete additional projects or legal matters, including general corporate matters and support for opening new offices in the U.S. and international jurisdictions.
- Policy and Operational Contributions: Contribute to significant policy initiatives and operational matters, including vendor relationships and compliance.
- Cross-Functional Support: Quickly and effectively identify complex legal and compliance issues, providing advice that integrates legal risk management with the firm's business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience:
- 5-10+ years of experience post-JD, with at least 3+ years in a similar role within a financial services firm.
- Strong experience in reviewing, negotiating, and closing contracts.
- Skills:
- Ability to independently negotiate and take ownership of issues, providing concise and timely advice.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to develop and maintain relationships across the firm and contribute to cross-functional projects and teams.
- Exceptional research, writing, and counseling skills.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with excellent interpersonal and client relations skills.
