Application Support Engineer (Boston/Hybrid)

Our client, an established leading global asset management firm based in Boston, has an opportunity to join their Application Support Technology team to provide comprehensive support across various business units, focusing on Capital Markets and Platform Services. In this role, you'll engage in a wide array of technology initiatives, from inception to implementation and support. Your tasks will include triaging support issues, producing documentation, managing release processes, and contributing to firm-wide technology initiatives. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain insights into financial products and investment processes alongside industry-leading professionals.

Please keep in mind we will not be considering candidates with more than 5 years of experience and are targeting 2-3 years. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and triage jobs and system integrations
  • Facilitate access and user requests for complex systems
  • Collaborate with internal and external vendors to resolve production support issues
  • Manage and triage major or minor production system incidents
  • Monitor and manage a support queue
  • Document incident status and resolutions
  • Perform data gathering tasks for audit and regulatory activities
  • Collaborate with app development teams to propose improvements
  • Support system patching and application lifecycle processes
  • Participate in corporate technology initiatives
  • Research and respond to data inquiries
  • Assist with system access certification and reporting
  • Support production software release activities
  • Assist in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing

Required Technical Skills:

  • 2-5 years of experience in application support or similar roles
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in Microsoft Windows environment
  • Motivated individual with problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in the financial industry is a plus

Additional Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Windows Desktop and Server administration
  • Intermediate Microsoft SQL skills
  • Basic to intermediate scripting skills (Python, VBscript, PowerShell)
  • Experience with data pipelines and ETL jobs (e.g., SSIS)
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Cognos or Tableau
  • Experience supporting applications on cloud platforms (e.g., SnowFlake, AWS, MS Azure)
  • Understanding of DevOps and Agile principles is a plus
  • Experience with web scraping or large data gathering jobs
  • Familiarity with Workday is a plus

Desired Background/Education

  • MIS or CIS undergraduate degree preferred

NO C2C Candidates will be considered. Candidates must be local to Boston and are required to be in the office 3 days a week and work from home 2 days a week. No sponsorship is being offered. USC or GC only.
