Director of Business Operations

A successful family-owned non-profit Trade Association located in the Greater Boston area is seeking a Director of Business Operations to join their team. As the Director of Business Operations, you will report into the Executive Director and Board of Directors. You will be responsible for the day-to-day function of the Association, including planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling and directing the programs and activities within the organization. Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain the administrative policies and procedures for the organizational functions
  • Ensure legal integrity of the Association
  • Assist with preparing budgets, financial reports and annual audits
  • Manage the finances and affairs of a number of entities administrated by the Association, including the various trusts of the Associations affiliated groups
  • Conduct research for the Association, inform the membership, public officials and others
  • Monitor the legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state and national levels and inform/educate the membership about new laws, codes, regulations and policies affecting their businesses
  • Manage the Association’s responsibilities in the area of labor relations
  • Oversee the educational program including event coordination, planning trainings, booking speakers etc.
  • Plan/coordinate general membership meetings and special events
  • Participate in the various activities of local affiliated associations and their national trade associations and other organizations

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Advanced degree required such as MBA or JD
  • 4-10 years of experience working within a related field (Non-profit, Law, Labor Relations, Construction etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, including Excel
  • Proficient in Smartsheet
  • Knowledge of Taft-Hartley
  • Excellent written and vernal communication skills
