Finance Associate – Boston, MA – Private Equity

A leading Private Equity firm located in Back Bay is looking for a Finance Associate to join their growing team! This firm is focused on buyouts of companies in Western and Central Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia. The firm has invested in over 400 private equity investments across 41 countries, with $96 billion in assets under management. The Finance Associate will be responsible for the overall accounting, reporting and treasury operations for the funds, including investor legal and contact administration.

 

Position responsibilities:

This position will work closely with the Senior Manager and Associate of Portfolio Administration in all aspects of deal administration.

  • Assist investment professionals in completing internal approval forms approved by investment committee and management in advance of deal signings

  • Work with global tax and structuring teams on investment structuring, setup, and funds flow mechanisms between signing and closing

  • Coordinate source of funding and timing for deals with broader fund administration team

  • Assist with the formation, reporting, operations, and legal administration of entities within the deal structures in certain jurisdictions, primarily in the U.S. and Cayman Islands

  • Prepare investment allocations, including securities held among various partnerships

  • Coordinate funding both by preparing funding schedules and executing foreign exchange trading for investment activity

 

Ongoing Portfolio-Related Processes:

  • Maintain portfolio company ownership and share positions in accounting system and oversee update of capitalization tables, working closely with deal teams regarding any updates

  • Coordinate with global colleagues to maintain Advent entity records including funds and SPVs, and assist in quarterly updates of entities and portfolio companies to the Big4 for independence purposes

  • Assist in the custody process ensuring compliance with the custody rules across the global portfolio

  • Update quarterly and ad-hoc management reporting schedules including investment activity, divestment activity including realized gains

  • Work closely with external auditors and Luxembourg depository on providing supporting documentation for each transaction; respond timely to questions and requests for supporting documentation

 

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration

  • 3-4 years minimum of professional experience in finance, ideally with direct or indirect exposure to private equity

  • Prior experience working with financial transactions, whether in a similar position or exposure through consulting/audit/tax

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work professionally and confidently with management and deal professionals

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral communication

  • Demonstrated ability to meet fast deadlines while often managing multiple competing priorities

  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop with a mindset of continuous process improvement

  •  List and process-oriented with demonstrated attention to detail and organization

  • Independent and entrepreneurial attitude showing the ability to take initiative in a fast and rapidly changing environment
