SEC Reporting Manager – BioTech – Cambridge, MA

A clinical stage biotechnology company developing oral biologics that act on the small intestinal axis is looking to hire! They are looking to This firm is looking to expand their accounting team and bring on a SEC Reporting Manager. The SEC Reporting Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial reports and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute guidance on SEC disclosure requirements for the 10-Q,10-K, and 8-K in compliance with US GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements

  • Lead and project manage the SEC filings drafting process by engaging and aligning stakeholders including management, external auditors, and legal counsel

  • Manage the company’s iXBRL reporting

  • Drive completion of the US GAAP and SEC reporting checklists to support SEC filings and internal controls

  • Research accounting literature and apply technical accounting standards to complex business issues and transactions

  • Draft accounting position papers on an as-needed basis for review by management and external auditors

  • Draft disclosures relating to the implementation or adoption of accounting pronouncements when applicable

  • Support Legal Team with drafting document and content for annual proxy; Forms 3, 4 and 5; and security offering filings

  • Assist with the SOX compliance efforts, including coordination with external advisor and maintenance of the control documentation

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to process, controls and systems used for external reporting and the broader finance organization

  • Collaborate with other stakeholders in the Company, especially the Finance organization and partner and execute on other Finance related projects and initiatives, as assigned from time to time


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance

  • Early-mid stage biotechnology experience a strong plus

  • 5+ years of overall experience with public accounting experience, preferably in the Big Four and preference to subsequent public company environments

  • Detail oriented, highly organized and analytical

  • Proven ability to develop relationships within the business and working collaboratively with both internal and external teams a must

  • Workiva, E*Trade and NetSuite software experience is preferred but not required
