Tax Compliance Associate

A leading alternative asset management firm, located in Boston, MA, is seeking a talented and dynamic individual to join their investment team as a Tax Compliance Associate. This individual will have primary responsibility for gathering necessary information for internal preparation of all federal and state tax returns. The individual will assist in the preparation of tax workpapers and returns with other team members, in addition to working on related tax issues/initiatives. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/review federal (domestic and US foreign informational) and state tax returns, including IRS Forms 990, 990-T, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 8865, 5471, 926, and multiple state tax returns
  • Compile, track and organize tax, accounting and investment information needed for the preparation of tax returns
  • Prepare workpapers to support tax returns and other tax initiatives
  • Assist with researching tax, accounting and financial regulations and analyzing tax implications to support tax filings, audits, and other similar initiatives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external managers to gather pertinent tax and investment information
  • Coordinate with tax advisors to support tax filings, tax audits, and other inquiries from tax authorities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Tax, accounting, finance internship experience to 2 years accounting firm or financial service experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with taxation of various entity types, including tax-exempt entities, desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel spreadsheet creation and manipulation preferred
  • Team Player with “can do” attitude and willingness to learn and develop expertise
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, willingness to work extra hours when necessary
