Sr Infrastructure Engineer

Our client, an investment manager located in Providence Rhode Island, has an immediate need for a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in a hybrid environment. This is a senior level technology position, responsible for supporting a hybrid on-prem/public cloud infrastructure. A qualified candidate must have 5+ years of hand-on experience in supporting an environment consisting of Azure, Office 365, Windows servers, Active Directory, monitoring, and various business-specific application servers. Candidates with prior experience in working independently and within a small IT environment preferred. This position will report directly to the Director of IT, Infrastructure.  Candidate will be expected to provide support for a wide range of technologies such as:  Exchange 2019, VMware™ vSphere SRM, Veeam Backup, Cisco UCS Blade, Nimble Storage, public cloud IAAS (Azure/AWS), Proofpoint Email Security and more. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Server Management: Responsible for managing storage/compute environments (VMWare/UCS platforms). Will be primarily responsible for managing the Firms Global backup environment (Veeam) as well as all other operational responsibilities related to Server management (patching/configuration/DR software management/etc), server uptime.
  • Email Management: Responsible for the management/maintenance of global email environment (O365/Exchange Online). Also responsible for the day-to-day management of Enterprise Vault and Proofpoint environments, ensuring the firm meets all email compliance and security requirements.
  • Storage Admin: Responsible for the management of the storage environment leveraging Nimble Storage.
  • Helpdesk Support:  Assist Helpdesk team on support call as requested by Helpdesk Manager.
  • Desktop Application Support: Assist and support the Desktop Application Manager in all aspects of desktop applications and technology.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with Director of IT, Infrastructure on all projects. Perform regular reviews of existing server infrastructure for improvement and modernization.
  • Hardware Management: Responsible for the life cycle of all production servers.  Ensures all production servers are under maintenance support contract. Stays connected with vendor’s hardware roadmap and stays relevant with emerging hardware technology that brings value to the business.
  • Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Management: Composes and maintains the firm’s DR Procedure Plan on how to handle service outage. Designs and reviews the existing DR environment, leveraging Zerto. Responsible for coordinating yearly DR Testing schedule and expected to be the subject matter expert on DR Procedure Plan.
  • Knowledge & Team Management: Responsible for transferring and sharing knowledge with other team members. Host internal training sessions. 
Qualifications:
 
Technical
  • 5+ years in a hands-on, senior-level engineering or architecture role.
  • Extensive hands-on experience managing Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, Exchange On-Line.
  • Expert knowledge of backup and replication products such as Zerto and Veeam.
  • Extensive hands-on exchange On-Line.

  • Experience designing/implementing systems for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Experience managing data-center technologies including physical servers/Cisco UCS, storage platforms (Nimble preferred), virtualization platforms (VMWare preferred) and hyper-converged infrastructure.
  • Experience with Proofpoint or other third-party email security gateways and archiving solutions as well as a strong working knowledge of email security best practices and standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of email security best practices and standards and implementations supporting those designs
  • Experience administering SSO platforms (Okta or OneLogin preferred) as well as SAML and OIDC integrations.
  • Hands on experience and understanding of managing security threats and adherence to security best practices as it pertains to all aspects of infrastructure.
  • Strong working knowledge of O365 administration and automation leveraging Powershell or other automation tools.

Educational and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or relevant experience
  • Experience in financial services or alternative investment firms a plus but not required
