Trust Advisor – Boston, MA
We are seeking a Trust Advisor to join a successful fiduciary services firm located in Boston, MA. The Trust Advisor will be responsible for a broad range of trust administration functions, requiring expertise in trusts, estate planning, investments, and tax laws. This position demands frequent client interaction and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Integrity, discretion, and respect for confidential information are essential in this role.
This is a permanent position paying $130k-$160k (depending on experience) on a base salary. Candidates MUST be located in MA and be able to work on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Trust & Estate Administration: Research and analyze probate, fiduciary, income tax, retirement plans, and estate planning matters to develop tailored client solutions.
- Trust Document Review: Regularly review and interpret both draft and existing trust instruments.
- Client & Advisor Engagement: Maintain proactive communication with clients, attorneys, tax professionals, and financial advisors.
- Leadership & Process Enhancement: Provide thought leadership to improve internal workflows and support team training initiatives.
- Account Management: Oversee new and existing trust accounts, handling account openings, distributions, terminations, death and gift administration, GST matters, and gift tax return preparation.
- Project Coordination: Lead projects and assignments from senior leadership, ensuring efficiency and accuracy while collaborating with Trustees and team members.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with Client Services and other teams to uphold a seamless, policy-compliant approach.
- Fiduciary Risk Oversight: Contribute to risk management initiatives and participate in fiduciary committees as assigned.
- Policy & Process Evaluation: Assess and recommend enhancements to office policies and workflows to improve operational efficiency.
- Team Support & Coverage: Provide backup support for colleagues and contribute to overall team effectiveness.
- Multi-Task Management: Successfully coordinate multiple projects, prioritizing responsibilities with sound judgment.
- Technology & System Expertise: Maintain proficiency in relevant software and database applications.
- Additional Responsibilities: Complete other tasks as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications:

7+ years in trust administration.

Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) designation or commitment to obtaining it.

Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; experience with Accounting/Portfolio Management Systems (e.g., SunGard’s AddVantage, ProFx, Estate Planning Tools, Charitable Financial Planner).

Proven ability to deliver high-quality service in a client-facing environment.

Ability to handle complex, sensitive, and confidential matters with discretion, even under pressure.

Self-motivated, capable of managing loosely defined tasks while supporting Trustees and senior leadership.

Eagerness to expand expertise and take on new responsibilities.

Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
