Controller
A retail manufacturing company located in the greater New York City area is looking to bring on a Controller to their growing team. We are seeking candidates with 8+ years of accounting experience within Retail and Wholesale (garments preferred), inventory management, cost accounting, and financial analysis. This opportunity will offer a competitive base salary, strong benefits, and will require an onsite schedule (5 days/week).
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial policies
- Oversee inventory management and cost accounting processes
- Analyze cost variances and work with operations to optimize cost efficiency
- Implement and maintain effective inventory control procedures
- Prepare and manage cash flow projections to ensure adequate liquidity
- Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements
- Prepare and manage borrowing-based reports for financial institutions
- Maintain relationships with financial institutions and ensure compliance with covenants
- Retailer charge backs; manage and resolve retailer charge backs efficiently
- Implement processes to minimize charge backs and improve collection cycles
- Address charge back issues with sales and operations
- Supervise and mentor a team of three direct reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 8+ years of accounting experience within Retail and Wholesale
- Experience in inventory management, cost accounting, and financial analysis is required
- Experience with Retailer Charge Backs
- Must be onsite 5 days/week
- Proficiency with PowerBI
- Strong Excel skills
- Experienced in ERP systems
