Legal Billing Specialist IP
Location: Boston or Washington DC
Type: Permanent
Compensation: $105K base salary
Large National IP law firm is looking for an IP Billing specialist with over 8 years of experience in IP Billing. This professional will need to be well organized, Manage a volume of work and have outstanding communications skills. This professional will be required to be in the office one day a week. This position can be located in Boston or Washington DC.
Responsibilities:
- Process IP Billing using Aderant Software (Aderant is a MUST)
- Distributing and sorting appropriate billing reports
- Edit attorney time entries, and preparing invoices for selected attorneys.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve complex billing discrepancies in accordance with client standards and firm practices.
- Utilizes knowledge of law firm billing (and the patent process for demand billers) for the preparation and distribution of draft and final Detailed Billing Reports and client bills/invoices
- Meet and exceed billing deadlines and ensures invoices are submitted accurately within specified time constraints
- Research and follow-up on client/vendor rejections
- Effectively communicates with clients or firm personnel as necessary to maintain and clarify billing/timekeeping information
- Proactively manages monthly workflow allocation to ensure completion at month’s end by coordinating workflows
- Work with the Collections Specialists as necessary to help resolve outstanding issues and reissuance of invoices
- Process billing using the electronic billing systems and eHUB to successfully submit client invoices
- Provide timely follow-up on rejected invoices
- Generate e-billing reports
Qualifications:
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a business-related field of study.
- A minimum of 8 years years law firm billing experience required Preferably IP Billing experience;
- Aderant accounting software required
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel) including meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.
- Ability to understand complex billing arrangements in order to translate those terms into correct E-billing formatting for invoices
- Detail-oriented and extremely accurate
- Ability to work well without direct supervision
Compensation to $105K base salary and outstanding benefits.
