The Supervising Accounting Analyst will be responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of GL accounts and financial statements, as well as for supervising the accounting staff. This position will handle IFRS to GAAP conversion/reporting, along with the consolidated roll-up of multiple investment portfolios. The selected individual will be expected to work very closely with the firm’s investment analysts and portfolio managers.
Responsibilities include establishing and communicating objectives to staff; utilizing available tools and resources to execute complex accounting and management reporting projects; preparing monthly operations reports for multiple investment entities; researching complex accounting issues and applying US GAAP; ensuring accounting controls compliance and managing team activities to meet required deliverable deadlines; establishing effective communication across departments; and managing the preparation and supporting processes to prepare investment valuation/returns reports.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Accounting or Finance, along with five years of applicable accounting and reporting experience. A CPA and prior team leadership experience is preferred. The employer is looking for someone with knowledge of financial accounting systems, business processes and reporting tools. Prior work experience with IFRS is required with specific conversion of IFRS financial statements into US GAAP ideal. The successful candidate should have exposure to multiple financial instruments and prior experience with valuation issues and complex investment. They will have
demonstrated expertise utilizing financial systems and reporting tools and the ability to function as a business partner to investment analysts and portfolio managers.
Compensation will be $75,000 to $110,000. That compares quite favorably to a national average salary of $74,000 for a Supervising Accountant, according to Indeed.com.
Senior Software Tools Engineer
A Boston firm is looking for a highly experienced professional software developer in the tools and release-engineering group who brings a successful track record of delivering software from conception to deployment. The Senior Software Tools Engineer will be responsible for the selection, development and maintenance of development and release tools.
This professional will also be responsible for implementing new or changed software while working with the project team to provide specific solutions and collaborating with the project team to identify, suggest, and improve engineering processes within the department and ensure adherence through each area. He/she will possess the ability to provide collaborative support for all areas of development and testing and act as a mentor for other software engineers working within his/her specific technology sector. The Senior Software Tools Engineer will create customized installers for multiple environment types, preferably with Installshield.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience. A minimum of eight years of professional experience is required. Requisite experience includes: expert level experience/knowledge in C#, .Net, and Visual Studio 2005 & 2010; experience in WCF, Web Service architecture and implementation; expert scripting skills – VBscript, PowerShell, batch, ant, etc.; administrative level understanding of Windows 2008, Windows 7, networking and file shares; working knowledge of code review, software design, and Microsoft technologies; source code control with tools such as Clearcase, Accurev or TFS; continuous Integration: Cruise Control, Urbancode or similar tools; and experience with release engineering and release management. Experience with Scrum and Agile environment technologies; SQL 2005/2008; DB development and deployment using Visual Studio; unit and automated testing using MSTEST; and AD practices and API’s are all a plus.
The chosen individual must be able to handle conflict management and motivate others and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. He/she will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
