Internal Audit Director

The Internal Audit Director will be charged with directing a broad, comprehensive internal audit program in accordance with internal audit standards and industry best practices. Responsibilities include developing and executing a top quality risk-based internal audit program to address all significant risks at appropriate frequencies; and coordinating and overseeing Audit Committee meeting activities. The chosen individual will also be in charge of evaluating risk exposures related to the organization’s governance, operations, and information systems regarding the reliability and integrity of financial, managerial, and operational information; effectiveness and efficiency of operations, and safeguarding of assets. Additional responsibilities include the coordination of Internal Audit activities, where appropriate, with Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance to provide for increased efficiency within the Risk Management Division.
The Director also will be responsible for overseeing and developing Internal Audit Department staff, including maintaining written policies and procedures; and for coordinating internal and external audit efforts to ensure proper coverage and minimize duplication of efforts. He/she will oversee the Bank’s external auditors, including coordination of financial reviews, and will oversee other periodic independent reviews (e.g., loan and information technology reviews) as performed by external providers.
The ideal candidate will have earned a BS degree and spent a minimum of 10 years in an auditing position for a complex financial services organization. He/she must be able to conduct risk assessments and develop audit programs and possess professional certification, such as CPA, CIA, or CBA. The selected candidate will demonstrate solid management, leadership, relationship building, analytical, and oral/written communication skills, along with a working knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance. He/she must possess strong organizational skills, including the ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent activities in a timely manner. A basic level of expertise with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) is a must.
Compensation will be $125,000 to $150,000. That’s considerably higher than the national average salary of $86,000 for an Internal Audit Director, according to Indeed.com.
Here’s an outstanding opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor or Senior Accounting Analyst to join a Newton, Mass.-based entrepreneurial firm with an international footprint and multiple business lines, all of which are prospering in challenging economic times.
This immediate opportunity is closely aligned with an international sales organization. The Accounting Supervisor and a team of four accountants will be charged with supporting international billings, AR accounting, and cash management and participate in period close.
Specific responsibilities include leading high priority process improvement initiatives to impact the consistency of the capture of sales transactions and managing the billing process (including reviewing the most complex invoices and client accounts to ensure accuracy and avoid issues in the receivables cycle). The Accounting Supervisor will work closely with field sales representatives to ensure the proper use of systems that feed the billing cycle. He/she will calculate and recognize revenue and review or prepare the associated journal entries. Additional responsibilities include monitoring AR aging and analyzing accounts, contracts, and the status of collection efforts, and resolving sales and customer requests effectively and timely. The Accounting Supervisor will monitor daily cash transactions and conduct required reconciliations and supervise the entire cash receipt and posting process. Special ad-hoc analysis and reporting projects will also be a regular part of the Supervisor’s ongoing duties.
Requirements include a BS degree in Accounting or Finance. Those candidates possessing an MS degree will be given special consideration. Interested parties must also possess five to eight years of corporate accounting experience – or a blend of public accounting and/or industry – along with a demonstrated ability to lead/reinforce established process and controls, including for a complex AR/ revenue recognition setting. A foundation experience with a larger public accounting firm is very desirable, and a CPA designation would be a significant plus. Superior organization, prioritization and written /verbal communication skills are mandatory. Advanced Excel experience is desired, as is foreign currency experience. Prior exposure/experience with complex sales contracts and setting up such relationships in a billing system is highly desirable.
The chosen individual will have demonstrated leadership and mentoring instincts, along with strong communication skills. The Accounting Supervisor will be working with key managers in sales, product management, customer services and on occasion directly with major corporate customers on issues related to invoices and receivables. Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills will enable the selected professional to succeed in this high visibility responsibility. Also desirable are a demonstrated attention to detail, excellent follow-up and research skills plus an ability to motivate a team to achieve consistently accurate and timely accounting and preparation of financial reports. Prior employment that demonstrates a strong team orientation is of significant importance.
Compensation will be $90,000 to $120,000. That’s significantly higher than the national average salary of $51,000 for an Accounting Supervisor, according to Indeed.com.
